Blackwood School

Here at Blackwood, we are a big, busy but friendly school, with lots going on. Each child is valued, respected and encouraged to become an independent, self-confident learner who is fully engaged and involved in their education so that they can achieve as much as they possibly can.

We believe that positive partnerships between parents, children and our school staff is important and is key to a successful education for each child. At Blackwood School, our children learn the importance of good manners, to respect others and to be tolerant of the views of others; to work together, to care for each other and to be confident in themselves and their abilities.

We develop this through our set of school values. We place learning at the heart of all we do, driven through the development of our five core values (love, excellence, acceptance, respect and nurture), within the school curriculum. Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of our learners providing them with rich, memorable and meaningful experiences that build children’s knowledge and skills sequentially. There are lots of opportunities for parents to come into school, including Celebration Assemblies, Class Assemblies, Parent Consultations, Open Evening and Parent Workshops.

Each of our children is valued for their individuality and the contribution that they make to our school family. Being a pupil at Blackwood School is not just about a successful, academic primary education, it is about acquiring the key skills and qualities which are the foundation for a happy and successful life. The acquisition of these skills and qualities are developed through our school values. We are an increasingly diverse community. We celebrate and welcome this diversity because it gives a rich and varied school culture. The children enjoy learning about different countries and cultures and are very supportive of each other. We have high expectations of all children in their learning and behaviour and are very proud of our Blackwood children. Their achievement is the result of their hard work, the education offered by our teachers and the support they receive from their parents and families.
